In 2018 we decided to create a group with the more generic title of The Pathhead Community Gardeners (PCG) of which food growing is still one strand. PCG have gone on to significantly transform the public spaces in Pathhead, involving local people of all ages in the process.
Our venture began back In 2013 when we gained permission from Midlothian Council to build raised vegetable beds on unused land. The following year we planted 20 fruit trees in the wee park, funded and planted by members of the local community.
Lockdown saw the regeneration of Pathedible as its own entity. We put a few bags of carrots on the 'Veggie Wagon' and positioned it at the entrance to the orchard with an honesty box for payment. People loved it! We established an online ordering service, making up orders in the hut at the bottom of our garden. Sarah's sourdough joined us and the veggie wagon was born!
